Starting a boys' home that's still going strong after 100 years is impressive. Add to that a delegation to help mend relationships between two adversarial countries after WWII, and you might be asking who this impressive and gifted person could be! Well, now you can carry (or frame) a reminder of this man whose work is still felt and recognized today: Fr. Edward Flanagan! Designed in the style of classic baseball cards, these “heavy cards” from Spirit Juice are crafted from artisan-grade 32pt (380lb) cardstock and are designed to take a beating, endure some wear, and survive the little hands of our saints in training (our children, of course)! What can I say? We’re passionate about paper…and quality…and evangelization!

Our small and medium prints don't just look good, they feel good...exuding a tangible quality and long-lasting reminder of Fr. Flanagan's work. The small size is exactly credit card-sized, meaning it will easily fit in a wallet or as a bookmark in your Bible, hymnal, Liturgy of the Hours, or missal. The medium size is perfect for framing, but they'll also sit nicely on a desk or keep your page in your favorite book all while maintaining their structural rigidity and standing up to recurring use and daily life (unlike lesser-quality paper stocks). On the back of these small and medium prints, we include a beautifully designed reminder of the saint's life; their birth and death, notable information, and a reminder of why we look to them as examples of holiness and Godliness. Stickers are permanent vinyl stickers that are dishwasher safe and designed to withstand some abuse!

This design is part of our "20th Century Visionaries" collection.

Father Edward Flanagan

Born: July 13th, 1886 | Died: May 15th, 1948

Bio: Father Edward Flanagan made an astounding impact on the lives of children across the world. He was born in Ireland, and after college made his way to the United States. There he overcame frail health to become a priest. In 1913, he opened “The Workingman’s Hotel” in Omaha to aid homeless workers. Time after time, the men told Father Flanagan “it’s too late for me now, Father, if only someone had helped me when I was a boy.” This inspired Father Flanagan’s great mission to save the neglected boys of the city. He was not content to merely talk. His tireless efforts overcame great difficulty and built Boys Town, a place for abandoned youth. He became a renowned expert on child care and was invited to go overseas to assist countries torn by World War II to construct a program for child welfare. It was in Germany where Father Flanagan passed away. His compassion and determination continue to save children to this day.
